So, when is the best time to stretch? To understand this, you need to know why you stretch. Stretching is designed to retrain your muscles. To relax, it is design to reduce your muscle tension, but it's also used to remove back pain and to gain flexibility. The way of doing this is to stretch a muscle and then relax it. If a muscle stays relaxed after you stretch, it will retrain quicker, it will remove back pain quicker and you will gain flexibility faster.
So, you need to stretch three times each day. You need to stretch in the morning when you wake up, this helps you prepare your muscles for your day ahead. You need to stretch again at the end of your day, as in your working day, which helps remove the tension that you have built up in the muscles during the day. But the most important time to stretch is just prior to bed. This is when you retrain the muscle to relax. You stretch your muscle, hop onto bed, go to sleep. Your muscles stays relaxed for a lot longer period of time and therefore, you will gain that flexibility, remove that back pain and help reduce muscle tension. So knowing when to stretch is much important than knowing what or how to stretch.
