Vaughn: Hi! My name is Vaughn. I'm from Los Angeles, California. And I was wondering what can I do to help relive sinus pain?
Jess Dhaliwal: Hi Vaughn, that's a great question. If you're talking about the sinus pain, that's seen with the common cold. There is actually no great treatment that gets rid of it completely. You can try over-the-counter decongestants, you can try nasal sprays like Afrin, but we usually suggest that you will only those for about three days.
If your sinus pain persists for more than seven days or if it's getting worse, you might want to see a doctor, because you may be developing a bacterial sinus infection.
Now if you're the type of person that has chronic sinus pain, that last for weeks and months, then you'll probably want to see an ear, nose and throat specialist for a couple of reasons. One, you want to make sure if there is nothing else going on. And two, because there are medical strategies, and even surgery that can help people with chronic sinusitis or chronic sinus pain.
