Our next step now is to just take your windows out of the car in order to successfully put your headline over and you got to take the windows out. There are two ways that you can do it. If you want to save your seals, you can push the window out. I’ll show you how to do that carefully and you should actually do it with a partner. And the easy way is you just basically cut of seal if the seals are bad or dry and you want to do a seal restoration, you just cut the inside lip of the seal on the inside of the car and the window will come out nice and easy. But I’m going to show it to you here on this convertible just where it’s easier to film and I’ll show you how to pop this front windshield out and once you can pop the front windshield out, you could basically pop all the other windows at the same way.
Okay, so like I said, the easy way to do this if you want to change your seals, the seal is good so I’m going to save this one. If you want to change your seals and you’re doing a full restoration here, is you just get your utility knife and you just cut the inside of the seal here all the way around until this inward leap will actually come off and the outside push in the seal is the only that’s left. And then it is really easy to just push the window out. But what I’m going to do here and what you should do is along with a partner, have your partner on the other side actually press. Hold his hand on the outside of the window. And while you gently press this out, you can actually fold one of the leaps down. I am pulling this down just like this. And then once you pulled that down and start pushing outward, the seal will start to move. And so with the window and let’s see if we can just basically do it here, just go very carefully. Usually, I like to start in a corner. Let’s see.
Now, I usually like to start on the top. Start with the top. Okay, there she go slowly. There we go. Go slow and work your way all around. I like to do it from the top first. Let’s see the seal starts to pop away, it starts to go through. If you put too much pressure on one area and you push it all the way out and you put too much with your hand and what not, you can actually snap it so we’ve done it plenty times with me.
Okay, let’s start working evenly. I’d like to do it from the top down because then months, you get the top portion that you could pretty much just pop the window straight up. The side windows, the corner windows and the real windows, they won’t be as difficult to take out like this. They’re pretty much will come out pretty safely without breaking. So, you can see here I popped the seal out of the inner leaps and the other leap here. So, it came off. I was actually able to push it out nice all the way around so you get to the bottom portion. And the bottom portion is still in. So, I’m going to show you how to take that out, it’s pretty self-explanatory, just kind of push it out, and then you could pull up on the glass.
So, now that I can get my hands behind the top portion of the window, it’s pretty simple actually. It will just come right out, just like that. The only way to really save these windows without breaking them, believe me, we’ve broken plenty of them in the past and we’ve learned our lesson.
