Removing an Interior Door

Start by removing the pins from the hinges; just use a nail and a hammer. This will allow you to easily remove the door.

Now it’s time to remove the trim. Use a simple pry bar for this. Use a small block of wood to place on the dry wall. This will keep you from damaging the dry wall. Try to be gentle if you plan to reuse the trim.

Repeat this process on the other side of the door. Using your reciprocating saw to cut the nails through the jamb. Remove the center screws from each hinge. These could be long screws in the wall stud.

Run your saw blade between the wall and frame just to be sure you have cut all the nails. Work the frame back and forth. The jambs may be stuck a little from the flooring. Door removed!
