Male: This is a plum tree and this is about to prune but this is interesting here. What we’ve got is a sucker which is coming out from the root stalk of the tree. Now you can just tell by looking at it. This is the actual plum variety. I can't remember which variety of plum this is really down somewhere.

Female: Marjorie seedling.

Male: Marjorie seedling, thank you Julia but you can see there’s a leaf and this is quite different and we need to get rid of this. So basically just taking it out at ground level there’s nothing very clever about it. And that’s about it. Okay so remove that, chuck it away somewhere, burn it because otherwise, you know, it’ll be a problem and with plums, the roots spread quite wide. You can get new growths and new suckers coming up from below. If you want to, you can dig those suckers up with some roots and plant them and you’ve got a plum root stalk okay and you can graft on to that if you want to. But we need to remove it from here. Okay and there’s nothing clever about it. You know I use more expensive more quality perisegment as we sterize frequently. But a cheap old pair of segregator is probably bad because it will either get contaminated with soap. But that’s it cut it down and press back, cut it again okay.
