Male Speaker: In this video, we'll show you how to remove the MacBook and MacBook Pro 13" inch glass assembling and replace the LCD.
To begin use a heat gun to loosen the double sided at heater strip that holds the glass in place. Use caution and heat the glass in short segments as overheating can cause damage to our LCD. With the glass heated place a strong suction cup on the glass and pulled up and away from the display assembling.
If you did probably you'll be able to see a small gap between the glass in the rest of the display. Insert a thin piece of plastic such as a credit card or movie rental card into the opening. Broke the piece of plastic in and off where can be this little longer seam of the glass, this will break the adhesive strip holding the glass in place.
Repeat this procedure along the entire edge of the glass assembling. When you meet resistance, heat the area and repeat. By pulling on the suction cup you should have to observe some force whatever do not apply excessive force as this could crack your glass or LED when you need resistance hit the area and repeat.
At a certain point the glass will easily come free from the rest of the display assembling. Set the glass to the side on a clean dust free surface. Next, remove four Philips head screws to on either side holding the LCD to the display frame. Now remove the clutch cover, by sliding it to the side and applying a gentle upward pressure.
Now remove the two Philips head screws at the bottom of the display. Took the display assembly forward and the LCD will come free from the backing. Gently work with the LCD and LVDS cable out of the opening and the bottom of display frame to remove the LCD from the display assembly.
To reassemble, place the LCD back in the frame and insert the LVDS cable backwards through the opening and the bottom of the display frame. Then pull the cable through the opening. You can use the plastic pry tool to assist you and routing the cable. Be very careful with this cable as it can be easily damaged.
Line the bottom of the LCD up with the bottom frame and slided into the groove in the bottom frame. Then make sure the six through holes are properly lined. Now replace the 6 Philip head screws.
Before putting the glass back on, use a cloth to clean any dust or finger prints from the LCD and glass panel. Line the glass panel with the display and press against the edges of the display to create a seal with remaining adhesive on the glass and display frame. If you purchased a new glass panel, remove the covering of the double sided tape and then align the glass.
Put the clutch cover back in place by lining up and pushing down into the side. The tools, glass panel and LCD are all available from our website PowerbookMedic.com.
