Welcome back everyone. Today has been a bit of a crazy day. We have had a number of unperceived numbers problems that arisen which always seems to be the case when you are working on a house that is a renovation.
As you can see the chimney has been removed. Bringing the drainage system out and around the chimney would have meant an insufficient perimeter draining system. Going underneath the chimney would have undermined the strength of the chimney and we could have a potential chimney collapse. I have decided just to play it safe and we have taken the whole structure down.
We are finally beginning to see some visible changes on the house. Some of the terraces have gone off and for the most part, the digging for the perimeter drains has been completed.
Our original plan was to run the perimeter drains out into a rock pit in the backfield. However, we have now been informed that our rock pit needs to be certified before we can move forward. So, all our work on our perimeter drains is on hold as we wait for an engineer.
So, we are heading into the plumbing store right now to get the rest of the parts for the guys, so hopefully they can finish off the perimeter drains today. The engineer was there and we have been certified so that is a good thing. We have got that finished and now hopefully we are in battle against the weather and we can get drains back field and finish today.
We are going to be at plumbing because we need more elbow joints or lateral joints or some such joints that they have sent me. I do not know. It is good thing I have written down. I am disappointed, just back and fort and back and fort to the plumbing store. But we will get these drains done eventually because we got to sort of have a deadline because Wednesday it is supposed to start monsooning around here and we really have to have the drains done or else we will have six foot moat around the house and a 10 foot deep lake in the backyard. And I am not entirely into that idea.
What we are looking at here is the drainage system for the gutters. Underneath about two feet sitting in drain rock is the actual perimeter drainage system. Both these systems run out to the west corner of the house where they link up and deposit into the rock pit.
After a weeks with the problems with the perimeter drains, it looks like we are finally going to get them finished today which is great news because it means we can get going again with the framing at the house.
