Male Speaker: Welcome to the 20 inch iMac aluminium take a part guide. To start with you have to remove the ram there is the small bracket on the bottom of the iMac. Remove the one inch Phillips screw that hold this bracket on. And then gently pry up on the bracket to remove that, take your small flat tool and pry up on the two plastic pieces that you see inside the ram bay pull on the plastic to remove the ram chip. It's easiest to work on the iMac with it on its back, first of all take a section - and section into the glass, you will notice the glass is not at here but it is held on by magnets. Get the first part loose at this half then move the section cup to the bottom, to remove the bottom then just remove the glass. You will see 12 screws that around the LCD these are Torx 8 screws get your Torx 8 screw driver to remove this.
There are four long screws along the bottom and then on both side in the LCD there are two shorted screws as well as four shorter screws along the top. To remove the aluminium casing gently pry up at the top by pressing on the LCD and plug in on the casing you will notice small cable connection you can unhook this connection do that before moving the casing. Now just lift the top of the casing and slide down to remove it. To remove the LCD you will see a small cable that runs from underneath the LCD beside the fan and connects them to the logic board remove that. Now you have to remove the display plug and it's held on by Torx 6 screws, get your Torx 6 screwdriver and remove both of these screws. Now just gently to pull up on the cable to remove that. Now you will see a total of 8 Torx-8 screws on both side of the LCD, four on inside. Remove these screws with your Torx-8 screwdriver. To remove the LCD you will need to lift it from the left side leaving the right side of the LCD and place because there are full connections better on the back of the LCD you will see that.
You have to unclip these connections, just gently slide them apart. Now its time to remove the logic board be very careful at the logic board because this is the most expensive part of the whole machine. To remove the cable connections on the logic board take your flat tool and gently pry them up. On the right side you will see a metal guard guarding a cable its right below the fan, to remove this guard gently pried up with your flat tool. After you remove the guard you can simply unhook the cable. Now to remove the power supply cable, it is quite difficult and can be the hardest cable to remove. There are two clips that lock it on both sides simply pinch that and slide it out.
Now to remove the right speaker there are just one Torx-8 screw get your screwdriver and remove that screw and simply lift up on the speaker to remove that. Now you will notice that there are 8 Torx-8 screws holding the logic board in, these need to be removed. Now on the metal heat seek you will notice there are three screws that need to removed. There are little arrow just point into these screws these are Torx-8 screws as well. Once if removed all of the screws you can simply lift up and slide out the logic board along with its heat sink.
