I have this problem w/ my 2000 Ranger. 1 support is broken & the other is about to go! Some guys say "Get this fixed ASAP. I wouldn't drive it!" Have me scared that the bed will collapse onto the wheels while driving! Not leaning though. Squeeks when I take a corner or hit a bump. I drive more carefully. Anywho, looking for solution besides the $600 estimate from the dealership. I know nothing about vehicles, but a young friend has offered to help. Forwarding him this vid. Very good vid. :)

I would never jack up a vehicle by its bumper, especially one as old as this. My truck is seven years newer and I wouldn't trust the bumper to hold it's weight(total 5500lbs).

How to Repair a Truck's Spring Bracket

You got to give me the first big if you want me to throw it. You got to give it to me. Come on, you want me to throw it? You want me to throw it? Ready, get set, good boy. Drop, drop. I just want to throw it because Henry is right behind him. Henry, up, up, up, come on, up. Hi everyone. Today, I am going perform is truck repair day or maybe freebie day. As you have noticed, but the truck—the back in the truck always tildes down the one side and it is not spring that was broken. Come here. So, it is not the spring it was broken. It is the bracket that holds the spring to the frame of the truck. It is called the SECO bracket. So this is an 82 forward F150. So it is an old truck. Meaning every time you called a netted, you are going to get felting. So, wear your safety equipment because your head is going to get full of dark and I am going to show how to do this. This is really simple if you have older truck. You probably know how to do this, but my fellow entertaining, they watch you and watch me fix my truck, all right. Things to remember, eye protection and ear protection because we are going to be using power tools. I will put on these Latex gloves because you have to go to a cocktail party tonight. They want me to craw on the Frisbee and fix the truck. So we are going to crow to the truck. Get extra soles all blades because you are going to need those. We have to cut off the SECO vault and we have to grin up the chassis vault and that is going to take a while. So here we go. I feel I like the spaceman lying down here something. Here is how to tear SECO bracket. This is what was broken. Up here is a lift spring with a connection to the SECO bracket and the SECO bracket is being connected to the frame right here. So, we are going to take this vault off and we have to take this big vault out as well. So I have to cut the vault on this noticed with this so that we can drive the vault out that way to where legend Henry awake. These are sublets for our saw. They wear out very quickly. So if you see here. This will take you a couple of minutes. So you are going through a number of blades just to get this vault off. So the biddy of this kind of blade is when you bend the blade. You just give it a twist and it is marginally straight again. You just keep on using this until you break all the tip off. So we cut that through. That is a beautiful thing. Now, we got to get the vault down. Wow, they came out really easy. So this is the vault. This is the bushing. This was knot, but just look at the tearing above this. There is no way we got to cut that off. To get these vaults off, we are going to have grinned them off because there is no way you can get a wrench on those anymore. Here we go. That vault there is what we are going to get out. Do not mind me. I am just under the truck. That is pretty good. Let us now go to the other side and try to pull this up. All right, so I get the tease off under here and there we go. Look at that. All right, that is number two. So we are just going to whack this with a hammer and try to drive them out. See if I can get this to move. All right, these are trustee assistants. You guys want to help me. We got to put the bushings on now. Can you do that with them? Okay, so we finally get the four vaults out. So, this is going to be easy now. We put the bushings into the spring. We connect the SECO bracket to the spring. Now we have to jack the frame up a little bit just to drop it right in the right spot. We put the vaults through onto the frame and we are done. All right guys. The easier parts. So this is SECO bracket here. These are your bushings. I know we have some new vaults, put all together. So here we go. So now we need to raise the body of the bed up to back to where it supposed to be because that is for the SECO bracket lines up. Okay, so we get the SECO bracket line up, bushings that goes in. The truck now is that we get to get the spring in the SECO bracket to line up with those holes there. There is some tension on the spring here, so we got to play with this for a while which is coupl
