How to Repair an Airsleeve/Rear Shock DT

This one is a DT shock, clearly been damaged. So it's ready for some service. These are easy to take out on a DT to DT as a re-pivoting mechanism in the islets and take those out. But there is old rings in their too which you don't really want to lose. That just seals a little sort of spherical bearings that are in there. This is the shaft islet, this is the body islet so you clamp the shaft islet, the fat end and with the can on it deflate this one but I am pretty sure it's already deflated. Indeed, the inner tube did the trick for us. This spring on a DT is the negative spring.

Instead of using an air negative spring this one gets the shock moving initially with an elastomer but you can see that once it starts to move a little away then there is no more negative spring because it's away from there and then you just have the action of the positive spring chamber. So this is clean, this one has a single backing ring and the square seal but not the backing ring on the other side. I am going to seal in the backing ring, make sure the slots overlap properly on my negative spring, I am going to clean this sides slick honey, smother it on, inside a little okay so here, a little more slick honey there, just put the can on. Don't forget to put your old ring and so then I am going to have to put this on a bike to compress it together.
