Hi! I am Helen from eSpares. In this video, we're going to be changing the filters on a Vax VEC04 Vacuum Cleaner. Safety first, always make sure you switch off and unplug your vacuum cleaner before working on it.
We're using genuine Vax filters, we recommend that you always use genuine parts for longer life of your vacuum cleaner. The Vax VEC04 has 2 filters, it has essential HEPA filter located in the bin and an anti-bacterial post-motor filter located here.
We're going to start with the HEPA filter. Basically the HEPA filter filters out fine dust particles such as pollen which can trigger asthma and allergies. Therefore it's really important to make sure that this is working correctly. So to change it, we need to remove the bin and turn it upside down. You just open it using this catch, and the filter just twists and pulls out.
Now this filter gets clogged up really easily. So Vax recommends that you wash it every time you empty the bin. Basically you just wash it in warm water with no detergent and leave it to air-dry for 24 hours. You need to make ensure it's properly dry before put it back in. But this one is really main key, so we're going to change it. We just take the new filter, line it up in the bin and twist, and there you go. So we just click the bin close and put it back, and that's you change the HEPA filter changed.
The post-motor filter, you just remove the cover and it slides out. Now this filter doesn't get as dirty as the HEPA filter, so Vax recommend you change this every 9-12 months. Again this one is quite old so we're going to change it. The new one just slots in and you just replace the cover and click it in place, and then you're ready to continue vacuuming.
