Thanks for the video, I need to replace the foam on my Advent Prodigy Towers, and this looks completely do-able. Glad to see that the glue doesn't have to be "perfect" and that the one can be touched gently. This'll save me shipping charges & other hassles, since no one locally repairs load speakers here, "It's just a lot cheaper to replace them, ma'am."

How to Replace a Foam Speaker Surround

It's what you need - Adhesive, your foam surround, a Philips screwdriver, X-acto blade and the swizzle stick. So we will start by removing the speaker from the cabinet. Put this speaker out of the enclosure. We see a red dot here on this speaker which should help us determine which one is positive and that blue line on that cable. So that's our positive speaker cable. You could grab a piece of white tape and mark it positive and negative. We can see is completely disintegrated around its foams surround. This piece would be called the gasket. So we need to remove that first of that we can get to the foam. Be very careful because you don't want to puncture here, the rest of your speaker. Now we are going to save that for later so we can replace that on top the of the new foam enclosure. We will just place it right on top of the cone like that. Now we are going to start gluing with its own glue. Look the new edge into the cone helps you use the swizzle stick so that we don't get glue on the fingers. So there we are. We have got a new edge placed on our cone. So while we are waiting this hour for the edge to dry I am going to take this time to clean out some of our workspace. Before we glue the edge of the new foam to the frame, we push around the cone a little bit, get a feel for the center of the assembly. That cone can easily be moved in one direction or the other. You also see where the sweet spot is and there is no scraping in the voice coil. We use our fingers just to distribute the glue a little bit and make sure that everything is even. We exercise the cone a little bit just to make sure that we are getting things centered and getting the new foam placed in that correct position. So, here we go, we got everything sealed on there and we are going to let it dry for about another hour. Alright we are back, it's have been about an hour and our surround should have cured somewhat to the frame. We add the gasket that we removed in the first step. Of course, we are going to place bead of glue around our new edge. Now smooth it out, make it little bit even. Make sure if there are screw holes that you line up the screw holes and with the screw holes on your speaker. Then we are going to fit it over. Everything should be dry now, finished, brand new speaker surround. Hopefully, you remember the colors that we told you at the beginning, the red dot here, it's for the positive and that goes to the blue cable and the other one goes to the negative cable. We get around and get it in. Get nice and tight so it doesn't bounce around in your enclosure. So the final step is let's plug it in and see if it works. There is dust shield. Now the next thing to do is listen to some music and rock out. Here we have it. I replaced speaker foam surround. Good luck.
