How to Replace and Repair House Exterior Wood

Hi, how are you doing? Steve from Master Craft Painting and here we are discussing wood repair or replacement.

In this particular home, the Stock O mold was pretty badly damaged in some areas and in some certain points we were able to patch that with a special two part epoxy. In others it was just necessary to completely replace the wood. What happened is the moisture got into it. I don’t know if you can see this on the camera or not but after the wood got wet, its juts a very tempting meal for termites and the termites got in here and just ate it all away.

This is the Stock O mold that we just went ahead and pulled out and completely replaced. So one of the things that we pride ourselves in Master Craft Painting is preventative maintenance and right now were talking about wood repair and replacement. We’ve determined that the water damage that cause the damage to this wood might be helped by installing rain gutters. So were going to install rain gutters on the spaces up here and just to show you. This is where the old Stock O mold came out from, so to help keep this one lasting long. We carved this in from top to bottom and were going to prime and two finish coat that just to keep the water out. Two biggest enemies to your paint job is the sign of the water, so the more you can do to minimize moisture on your home by placing of sprinklers in different things. The longer your paint job is going to last.
