We are about to have the greatest fun we have ever have. I am not going to say this, and to file open. I have been looking for this lesson for a long time. This is a good one, folks. I am going to select sculpture to liquefy, and let us go ahead and head open. And, we have a couple of sculptures here. They are absolutely gorgeous so elegant and beautiful and pristine. And, we are going to just ruin the statues.
Well, what we are going to so is examine a filter that will allow us to go in and re-sculpt. So, what better ways to practice this feature that on sculptures? So, I am going to go to filter and we will see here in this top area, liquefy. This top area of the filter menu is meant for big plug-ins like liquefy and vanishing point. These other little ones down here that we have been using are smaller programs whereas liquified and those others here are definitely more robust and they are more feature heavy as well.
So, we are going to select liquify and the concept of liquify is just that. That our image is liquid and we are basically, just reshaping this liquid. I am going to use my left bracket here to hold down and decrease the size of my brush. So, was that small enough to about there and again, this is artistic. So, whatever you want it to be. Now, we are going to make sure that this top button is selected and that is the forward work tool. And, basically, you could use this tool to just grab on areas and tag on in them, reshape up.
So, when it go to our beautiful, beautiful, precious, elegant nose and let us say, she has told a few lies in her day, and then now, catching up with her. So, we just grab this sculpted nose and kind of pull it out a little bit. And, we can go to her eyes and raise them a little bit, like so. You pull this one down, maybe she is not supper happy that we are playing with her sculpture there, and actually, let us give her a little devious smile, there; she is click on drag, re-sculpting this. Nice little joker smile there. Oh, beautiful. I am going to make this bigger, and now when I work I will work bigger areas. So, let us say, we are going to give her the old Jay Leno treatment here, and pop out a little bit, and we take this back in. That is starting to look really cool.
Now, let us go ahead and there are some other tools I want to talk about, that help us as we are liquifying. Where, then, is the Packer tool and as you click it, an area will shrink around your cursor. Good for making beady little eyes like that, awesome. Underneath, is the opposite of the Packer tool, the Bloat tool that makes things bigger and puffier. So, if you want a puff out our cheeks or maybe puff out her forehead a little bit, we can do that here. You will see a lot of curls here, because I am puffing that out, you could see that on the curls. While you do to the statue is totally up to you. The flexibility is yours and so is the fun.
Now, this does have a utilitarian as well. I, honestly, use liquify all the time when I am sending out pictures of myself to professional places. I am kind of a fat guy; I got several extra chances that I do not need. And so, typically, what I will do is I go in here, with like the Warp Tool or something and let us pretend this is a few extra layers of fat on me that I do not want. I could go ahead and just drag this in, and kind of pretend that I have a smaller neck. Now, I would not want a crow neck like this but you get the idea that this does have some utilitarian benefits as well. There are some pixels that is just kind of in the way you can kind of scoot them over and nudge them and play them a little bit. But, also at the same time, it is really fun to just absolutely destroy pictures of your friends or other innocent people that are not aware that you have their photos. It is just a great tool to play with.
Now, one thing I should tell you real quickly is that there is this Reconstruct Tool. So, if you ever get to the point where you have messed up something a little bit too much, say for example, the neck here or if your conscience starts getting to you, you could go ahead and click on this areas and it will restore those pixels that you click on back to the way they were before you started adjusting with the liquify tool. So, I could click on just the edge of that nose, here is a little bit, there we go. So, we start restoring a little bit that nose, and there was the old “See your another version act” look. Very good. So, in a nutshell, this is liquify. I am just going to go ahead and hit cancel here. And, now let us move along to talk about some great distortion effects.
