Bea: Beneficial insects are an important part of the world we live in. But some insects bite, sting and carry disease. Insect control is especially important in the grassy, damp and wooden areas around our homes. I am going to find out more about this. Come on.

Glenn: Hi Bea.
Bea: Your neighbors told me you are a hero for helping them with pesty insect problems in their home, what is your secret?
Glenn: Come on I will tell you. I was particularly concerned about insects when the kids were young things like ants and mosquitoes and other bugs multiply so fast. And we really do not think about it until we see them and by then it is too late. For the few simple steps, you can really make a difference.
Bea: What are those steps?
Glenn: Well, first you want to do is remove their food supply so make sure you tight up any loose garbage and immediately clean up spilled food on the deck. Other things you can do is get rid of standing water that are in the kids toys around the yard and cleaning the bird bass regularly.
Bea: So it is not enough just to have good screens in your windows?
Glenn: Screens are great to keeping bugs out but you really need to check for openings and cracks around cocking on door frames and window frames and seal up any crack and crevices in the foundation of your home early in the season.
Bea: Well that makes sense and what else could we do?
Glenn: Well you want to turn off potty and porch lights at night but if you do need light, replace the white bulb with yellow bulbs because they attract insects in a different way.
Bea: Home defense max, what is that?
Glenn: Well many unwanted pests get into our living spaces. We do not just want to kill the bugs we have we want to eliminate the new ones from coming in, this is a great ready to use spray that gets into the cracks and crevices where things like ants and cockroaches and earwigs like to hide.
Bea: And that is how they get in. Okay, well then how and where would you apply this?
Glenn: Inside and out of the home around the perimeter of your house.
Bea: And how much of the container would you actually use?
Glenn: A jar this size will cover an average home for a full season but it is really easy with this pull and spray applicator. It sprays for several seconds it will eliminate hand fatigue and it will give you a nice even barrier around the foundation of your home.
Inside I spray with the wall meets the floor, outside you can spray a band around the perimeter where the foundation meets the ground. Spray until slightly wet but do not soak and that helps create an invisible bug barrier.
Bea: Thanks Glenn, so for insect control using common sense about garbage, cocking and screens is one thing but it sounds like this new technology might be the, most helpful of all.
