Hi guys, this is 0012 production and today, we’ll be showing you how to sample a melody and to sample that into a hip hop beat. Now, I’m going to be teaching you how to sample on Arabian sound. So do try to follow me as I go along and you can download this Arabian sound from www.fruitytuts.com. I can show you how to do that if you guys want. Basically go to www.fruitytuts.com and once you open up the website, you will need to download the Arabian sound which is Arabian loops, so once it's up, just click on downloads and then if you scroll down, click on music kits and samples.
Once you click on music kits and samples, load up and then click on to Arabian loops right here. Once you click on it, you won't be able to download it unless you register. So you have to registers as you can see right here. Once you register you have a download button right here which you will follow on to download it to your computer. So you need to register first which is here.
Anyway, back to fruity loops. Okay, once you run to download the Arabian loops, I’m just going to go and see what we have.
[Demonstration]
Okay, I really like this one. I like number three and four. So I’m going to take three and four out. I’m just going to copy them, I’m just going to paste them to my desktop. Now if you guys paste these things into folder. So I’m going to call this my new project. Now you want to keep your samples for Fruity loops within the same file, so just put in the file, okay because I’ve got many things here–that, and make sure you save your document into that same folder. So let’s just go to a fresh page of Fruity loops and let’s save that onto the new project and let’s call this sampling, because that’s what we’re going to be doing today.
So let's get started guys. First things first, what we want to do is we want to load in the samples and once we load in the samples, we just want to basically cut them up, so we can put them into hip hop beat. So let’s turn the tempo down to 90. Once the tempo has reached 90, that’s fine. Let’s just leave it at 90 and click on the play list. Now we can see that I haven't got anything. I’m going to be dragging in all my kits. If you haven't got any hip hop kits you can download them from the website as well. we’re going to be using basic kicks nice and stuff so you guys can just replace them if you’re on.
But let’s get started, so first things first. We’ve got insert. At the top, we’ve got the effect editor which is this one right here, once you click on that, okay let’s go to 10 and let’s call that sample, so let’s rename that. Okay, we typed in sample, F2, you can click F2 to rename it.
Now on the dropdown menu, we’re going to click on select, I’ll going to click on more, but you guys can just click on that and then just click on Edison. Once we get Edison inside, what we’re going to do now is we’re going to drag in the loops that we’ve downloaded from the website.
So back to my new project we can see these two loops that we’ve downloaded. Once we downloaded that, we’re just going to drag them in. So let’s drag number three and first. So this is number three, we can see it’s a loop. Now let’s have a look. So let’s just select that spot here, let’s see the loops. Okay, I’m just going to remove my microphone because it’s creating a lot of echoes. Now if we click this link button here, what this will do is this will replay over and over again. So let’s click on that loop. And that’s good, but when it goes out we can just hit left click. So let’s take that out. So before we start cutting this up, before we do that, it’s up here, what we have is we’ve got a stuff called marker points.
Now we can do markers and then cut it up and put into free slicer. So we can sample the beat and then hit the keys, so we can get sample loops going as we want. So what we’ll do is we’ll click on the marker and we can see that marker one comes up. So let’s say we select this one and we’re like, “oh no, when it go back to marker one.” You click on it, double click on it. Now the reason we want to click on it at the moment is because it’s right the edge button. We can just double click on it and usually select the whole marker one, but we’d have to put more markers in here in order for that to work. So let’s put more markers down and then I’ll show you what I mean.
So this looks like a second loop right here. Let’s just play this.
[Demonstration]
Okay that’s good. So let’s put more of that marker there. That’s the second loop. This could be the third loop.
[Demonstration]
So that’s the third loop and let’s go down to the end.
[Demonstration]
And that’s the end loop. So we’ve got four markers now. And that’s what I mean, when you click on the marker, it just shows you what marker we have. So we’ve got four loops that just have been sampled into Fruity loops.
Now what we’ll do is we click on Control A to select them all, right click, click on source and then click and declick out. What this will do is the loop will not click at the end when it loops, so it will merge it together and create an anchor point where there’s nothing to be played and there is no clicks, it puts it right on the middle. If you can see right here, this is what I mean. It’s right in the middle and there’s nothing to be played because that is what it does and it’s very useful.
Now, when we have that, so we’ve just sample the beat. Let’s right click on to channel, click on insert. I’ll just go and click on more, but what we’re looking is for Fruity slicer. So let’s just look at Fruity slicer which is right here. I’m just going to double click on it and we can see that it comes up like this. Now Fruity slicer takes in the samples and outputs it, so you can play it with your Midi keyboard which I’m going to be doing right now, but because this is a tutorial and I’m not expecting you guys to have this instrument and stuff. So I’m going to be keeping it nice and simple so you guys can keep up what I’m doing.
So now going back to the Edison, so that’s up, click it on to the channel mixer and effects. We’ll go back to number ten, which is the sample and then we’ll click on to the Edison. Now, I will zoom in so what I’ll do is I’ll just click on that right here and make that big again and we’ll select everything. So Control A to select everything.
Now we place this so we can see the Fruity slicer and the Edison. Now I made a little trick. instead of dragging it all out on that, you can just click on this little O and drag into with drops use samples on to the play list. If you click on it and drag it into the window in the slicer, it will automatically put it in and slice it for you. So now that we’ve done that, if we go straight into the slicer and click on piano roll we can see that ¬going from C, C#, D, D#.
