Hello. Thank you for tuning in to The Discount Trendsetter Show. I am your host D. Gulley and today’s show is the back to school special. I know for some of you, summer is up. It is now time to hit the books. So whether you are a high school senior, a college freshmen or a graduate student working over your PhD, shopping for back to school clothes do not have to sink your wallet into debt. On today’s show, I am going to give you some of my tried interest secrets to help you save money.
Tip number one, establish a budget. Ladies, I know I have mentioned this several times on many of the other shows. And I am going to keep preaching it as long as I am the host of The Discount Trendsetter Show.
It is very important that you establish a budget before you start shopping and here is why. There is an old quote that says, ‘if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.’ So ladies, if you fail to establish a budget, nine times out of ten, you will overspend because there are so many sales, deals and bargains going on that are begging for your money. I know even a strong person have a hard time walking on by including myself. So ladies, it’s important to know how much money you have, whether you work with a $100 or a $1000. Establish the budget first, so that you can then get the items you need within your price range.
Tip number one was to establishing budget. Tip number two is to make a shopping list. Before you go to the grocery stores, genuinely you write down the items you need before you start shopping, well it is important that you write down all the back to school gourmets you want to purchase before you start shopping as well and here is why.
If you only have $100, honey, you try to purchase five pairs of jeans, two shirts and a jacket; it is not going to have any basis. You can probably go to a Ross, TJ Maxx or Marshals and purchase all the items you need within your budget but this way you know where to go first. Now you see why it is important to establish that budget and make your shopping list.
Well it is now time for the financial tip of the week. Stay tune, I will be right back with more money saving tips.
Financial Tip of the Week
According to the Center for Responsible Lending, some major banks now allow debit card purchases to go through even when you do not have sufficient funds to cover the charges. The bank will then add NFS fees and overdraft charges to your checking account for insufficient funds. Please be proactive and monitor your checking account regularly. I highly recommend that you review your checking account at least a week to make sure your balances are correct.

Before the break, I have mentioned two of my favorite ways to save money when it comes to shopping. Number one, establish their budget, number two, make a shopping list and number three is to do comparison shopping. In this new modern day type technology world, it is so easy to do comparison shopping.
All you have to do is log on to your favorite retail stores websites and compare the price sales, you will find that maybe Macy’s have the best deals on accessories. It may be not in bathe in the best deals on jeans. No matter what your favorite stores are or designer brands. Do comparison shopping. Go through your Sunday paper, go online and find out who has the deals before you leave home. This way, you are sure to give more banks for you buck.
