How to Save Money with Government Auctions
Better
Rhiannon Ally: When it comes to putting together a home office uncle Sam has a
deal for you. Jeanette Pavini tells us how to save with government
auctions in today’s Better Ways to Save.
Jeanette Pavini: Well you can put together a complete office for under $200 or buy
a TV for about $40 simply by finding local government surplus sales and
most people don’t even know that they exist. The government sells surplus
and used items for pennies on a dollar office furniture including desks,
chairs, phones, computers and copiers.
At some auctions you can find cars, trucks, even horses. They have plenty
of chairs, file cabinets, desks and monitors and the best thing about these
auctions is that there are a lot of them. You can search online for
government auctions at the federal state county and city levels. Every few
years county offices update their equipment and sell it off at tremendous
discount and also if you’re a none profit some counties will just give it to
your organization at no charge.
You don’t need to pay anyone a fee to help you find what you’re looking
for access to these sites is generally free and the rules for bidding are all
clearly written on their respective sites. Now many cities have warehouses
that set a price and sell it off. It’s a great way to set up an office with very
little investment just remember there are no returns and no warranties so
choose wisely.
Rhiannon: Buyers beware thanks Jeanette. On Friday Jeanette will share how
recycling can be the key to redecorating. We’ll be right back.
