How to Save an Access 2007 Database as an Access 2003 Database
Since Access 2007 uses the .accdb extension, where back in prior versions, it used .mdb, you're going to still be able to open .mdb files in Access 2007, so any old versions of databases you can open now in Access 2007. However, if you have a new Access 2007 database and you saved it with .accdb, for some reason you take it somewhere else, you're not going to be able to open it with Access 2003 or 2002. So, in order to do that, if you think you might need to do that, then you’re going to have to specifically go and save it as a .mdb file. So to do so, go ahead and when you have your database open, go up to the Office and go to Save As, let’s try that one more time, go to Save As, don’t click, and where it says Save the in another format, go ahead and click on Access 2002-2003 database. There’s also an option, if you want to save it as a 200 database. Go ahead and click on this and it’s simply telling me that it’s going to have to close my table before I can do so, so I'm going to press Yes. We’re going to get a Save As button and it’s going to automatically change my extension now to .mdb. I can go ahead and click Save and it’s now saved in the Access 2002 to 2003 file format and now can we open in those earlier versions of Access.
