Hello and welcome to Chinese Learn Chinese lessons. Today, I would like to teach you a very simple and very simple sentence for tourists and that is, “I am a vegetarian.” In Chinese, “wǒ shì sù”.
So again, this has been a request on YouTube so I recommend everybody to send me a request on YouTube, or if you are on Twitter, send me a request on Twitter as well. But the worst you want to describe in Chinese and I can make such video that contains a Chinese sentence from pronunciations and writing for you. So let’s have a look at the Chinese characters of this sentence wǒ shì sù.
Okay. So let’s have a look at this sentence wǒ shì sù. Very simple, three characters. So wo means I, shi means eat, and su means vegetable. I eat vegetable.
Let’s have a look at each individual character. So we can see that the first character is wo and we can notice that wo is more likely a left and right structure. So you can see that in the demonstration. We first write the left part and again from up to down. And now, we are up to the right bit and from up to down as well. So that’s how you finish writing this character wo.
[Demonstration]
Let’s have a look at the second character shi. So again, shi is more likely a left and right structured character. The way of writing this character is from left to write so you can see that from the demonstration, we write the square and the left and then we write a right bit which is from up to down again. So that’s how you finish writing this character shi.
[Demonstration]
Okay, let’s have a look at the third character su. So su is one of those “Oh my God! How am I going to write this complicated character thing?” So the way of writing this character is from up to down. And again, I’ve already broken it into three parts. The upper part, the middle component and the component at the bottom. So the way of writing this character is from up to down. We can see that from the demonstration. You firstly write the upper part and then you write the middle part which you can pretty much just finish that in two lines. And then, you write the bottom part which is another component. When you put all those three parts together, it becomes the character su. So the pronunciation of the su is much similar than the writing. You can see that the pronunciation is just S-U.
So altogether for the whole sentence, three characters for three times “wǒ shì sù”. I am a vegetarian.
Okay. That’s fantastic. I believe now you have already mastered everything about this sentence. The tones, the pronunciations and the writing of the Chinese characters wǒ shì sù.
