Sorry but many of your methods are flawed. If that works for you, great, but you don't know much about cast iron (cleaning, seasoning, or even how to use it properly) and should not have made this video.

1st off your original "dutch oven" is a bean pot not a dutch oven at all. (it still works like one though except it doesn't cook on top) The rod you were holding that you said was for picking up the dutch oven is actually for taking the lid off. When you pile the hot coals on top of the dutch oven you can't exactly take the lid off with an oven mitt so that's why the hook on the end of the rod has a flat horizontal bar to catch on the lid of the oven which keeps it stable and allows you to take it off without burning yourself.

dude, nobody cares about your dog or white trash washing machine. You know what your talking about, so just show us how to season the pan! That whole video should have been 3 minutes, not 8. BTW, your NOT an internet celebrity. Nobody knows about you or cares.

Sometimes I wonder if I was adopted: both my parents were born in Alabama and yet I cannot make good iced tea or fried chicken. (I also can't choose a ripe watermelon but that gift is given to few.) My mother and aunts turned out heavenly fried chicken and they all, to a woman, used cast iron skillets. I've been wanting a solid, heavy Dutch oven for stews and cassoulet so maybe the time is right to start looking for my own cookware set. Thanks for the tutorial about how to season and care for cast iron.
