Hi this is James from craftmarker.com with the video series, the ten most asked questions about selling your crafts, and the ten questions you should be asking. This is video fourteen in the series.
A question you should be asking is, how can I gain an advantage with so many crafts listed for sale online? Well, here is a tip that will give an edge in promoting your craft items on the internet.
You see no matter what the product is, people research online. The seller do the same thing, define what they're seeking. People type in text, describing what they want into a search engine. Part of the secret to getting your web pages to rank high and found by the search engines is including the same search word or phrases on your pages that people use in everyday searches. Including the right keywords in various areas of what makes up a web page is critical.
For example, in a recent month there are an average of sixteen searches per day for the phrase, “handmade gifts” with handmade being one word. But during that same period, there where sixty-eight searches per day for the phrase “hand made gifts”, hand made two words. What a difference on how people search. Sixteen searches per day for handmade gifts, 64 searches a day for hand made gifts. Can you see what would have happened if you used the wrong phrase in that example? You would have lost lots and lots of business.
Okay this is just one example of website advantages explored in the book, “The Basic Guide of Selling Crafts In The Internet” written by yours truly. As the role of internet grows in marketing crafts and other products, another question people often ask is, can I sell craft items made with designs that I find online and from magazines and books? Watch the next video for the answer. This is James from craftmarker.com. See you in the next video.
