How to Serve the Bulgur Pilavi
So now, we’re waiting for a delicious dessert to cool down and it is almost done, it’s time to serve our Bulgur Pilavi.
Now, it’s been settling here for about 10 to 15 minutes and what I like to do is take a fork and get it really nice and flakey and flake it out. This way, it gets really nice and piecey because sometimes when it’s settling, it sticks together but that’s okay, that’s normal. So, we just have our serving platter here and this is a great alternative to rice. And in Turkish cuisine, there are so many different types of rice. I mean you could totally make it your own. But sometimes, the bulgur is a nice alternative and a great change and it’s going to go great with our Givech. Now, what we’re going to use to garnish our bulgur for today is one red onion and some scallions. Now, anytime when you’re eating the bulgur especially with lamb, we love to eat the red onions plain. It’s really nice and crispy and it’s kind of watery and it really cleanses your mouth. So, anytime we’re making a bulgur, you always want to have some type of red onion. And if you want, you can even put some sumac on it which is a delicious spice. And a lot of times if you wanted, you can have some extra scallions on the side and put that on your table.
Remember before I was saying anytime you go to a Turkish home, you always have the table full. Well, we even like to put some fresh radishes and scallions and a lot of raw vegetables which is we love to eat vegetables raw. So, what I like to do with my red onion is just cut it into wedges and kind of a corner these out and you could just eat the onion plain, a lot of people do it. It’s going to go great with our lamb and you could garnish this really anyway you want to; I mean, I know some people who love to use tomatoes and maybe some parsley, we love to garnish with parsley a lot. I think the scallions are a nice change; we’ll just drizzle some finely sliced on top. You don’t need too much to this because our Givech is going to have a lot of garnish as well. Actually our Givech has so much vegetable that it doesn’t even need garnish. So, this is our delicious Bulgur Pilavi or Bulgur Pilaf. It’s going to go great with our Givech and I think our is about ready so I’m just going to take it out of the oven.
