Okay, this is the homepage for Host Gator. Basically, Host Gator, a web host company, this is where all of your files will be kept for your new blog or website. Just a quick mention here and on this right hand corner here, they’ve got a link to have a life chat with somebody at Host Gator and you can either talk to sales people or technical people. If you do have—it’s well worth trying this out. All you do is click on there, put your name in, put whether you're looking to—in sales billing all technical.
Let's assume we've got technical question. If you’ve got domain name at this point, pull out here and then just put a quick title for what you want to talk about and then click start. And what you’ll find is within a few minutes, you'll be able to chat online and discuss the problem and I've found them to be very, very helpful. All right just thought to let you know. Okay, on the homepage, what we need to click on is web hosting.
And what we want to choose is Linux web hosting which is this top here which is already on. Let's just double check, make sure we are Linux so Linux is hosting, okay. What they offer here are three basic packages so you’ve got an option of what to choose. The most basic one, they call—and it starts at $4.95. You can see the options here. You can either pay monthly, pay for one year, two or three years and you get that deal for the longer time.
The dated package starts at $7.95. You'll notice the price they put here is actually assumed and you go for the three-year deal. If you only go to pay monthly, this one is going to be $9.95 and the hatchlings going to be $8.95. If you’d like this account, it is going to start if you just pay monthly at $14.95, but if you pay over three years, it will be $12.95. The best thing to do is just scroll through and look at all the options on the left little features and benefits and choose the package which is right for you.
Now, initially you might just think let's go with the hatchling, it’s the cheapest option but I would actually considered the baby package. The main reason I chose baby over hatchling is simply this one here, the number of domains allowed. With hatchling, you can only have one, whereas with the baby package, you can have as many as you like. So, if you decide you want to start a second blog, no problem. You can just start it to this package whereas if you just on hatchling—having said that, I'm sure there are ways—great and quite easily to the baby pack if you want to do that.
Anyway, lots—so you decide which one. For this example, I'm going to go with the baby pack so click order now. Now here, what it’s asking you is whether you registered a new domain or whether you're going to use an existing domain. And if you do that, you're going to have to update your name service. So, if you do want to register name with Host Gator rather than another company which is actually this is way of doing although they’re not necessarily the cheapest, just type in the name you’d like, “myacewebsites” go for the .com, below you’ve got the options and .net, .org, .info or .biz, click next. What it’s saying is not available for one year for $15.00.
Now, I'm going to assume for this tutorial that you’ve actually registered the name with GoDaddy, quite a bit cheaper than this so let's click start over. So, what we've going to do is say we’re going to use an existing domain and obtain my name service only so click on this. And now, what you need to do is put in your name. Now, you’ve registered with GoDaddy. And type in the extension which we’re going to choose as .com, click next.
And then here, just let the package you want so we’re going to click baby. And we’re going to select myacewebsite.com, that’s the primary domain. Now, obviously here is going to say your website name, click Continue. Okay, it shows your domain here and it’s shown in a billing cycle. If we just going to stay with monthly, it’s $9.95 a month or you can pay one half payment for six months at $59.70, an annual subscription of $119.40 or two-year or three-year deal.
I'm going to leave on the monthly payment at least then if we have any issues which we shouldn’t have by the way I haven’t had any issue with them but at least you can just drop out and move over to another hosting company if you need to be. If this money finds any—anywhere, just put them in there. I've been going on the mode so now we’ll click on calculate totals. Okay, total comes to $9.95. Now, you need to tell him who you are, if you are a new customer. Okay that one, highlight it. If you’ve already got an account with them then you can just click add this order to my account.
I'm going to assume for now that we’re starting a new account so I click Continue. So, what you need to do here is put in all your details, your name, and address, your contact information, your primary email address and phone number and you need to put in a username. Make sure you don’t put in any hyphens or spaces and then you need to put in a password between three and 15 alphanumeric characters and you can use an underscore or the dash character within that password.
One thing to know I've actually made this mistake as well in the past. You can have your username or any part of it within your password and just want to accept that. Here, just verify a password, type it again. I'm not quite sure with the comment but this I don’t usually fill out in.
And then here, decide whether you’re going to pay by credit card or PayPal and enter your card details if you go into that route. Just click on this link to check the terms and condition to make sure you have with them and then click on yes. It just saying before submitting please make sure that you check and fill out all the necessary information.
Okay, all full and all this information then I'll click on verifying my order. Once you’ve verified your order you'll be taken to another screen which confirms everything and you'll also be sent an email which has a lots of information and it so please keep hold the file email and make sure it safe and there are a little bit of info within that that we’re going to need later on when we link you website name or you domain name to the web space within your Host Gator hosting account. So, one of the next videos will show you how to link from GoDaddy to your web space with Host Gator. Okay, that’s it for now.
