Male Speaker: So you got your big beautiful HDTV, but now you wondering how I'm going to set it up with PS3, my home theatre system, my HD DVR. Hi! I'm Ben Meyer for digital landing and today I'm going to set up just such a system and also give you some tips and tricks and how could work for your particular set up.
Okay, before we get started plug in everything yet, I want to talk a little bit about the cores and connectors you can use. To connect everything on your home theater system. There is a million different ways you can put together as a system and its basic intention on all the inputs and outputs you have on your TV and receiver and other peripherals.
Now the most important thing to remember is you want at the best connection possible for any individual input and output you can, but sometimes you run out of inputs and outputs and you have use the best one that you have available. Okay, I'm going go through a few of course you have coaxial cable here, this is used often for connecting your intender or cable or satellite. The next step up is composite cables. This is in red, white, and yellow. Usually this used for an analog signal it's okay, but you can usually do better on the analog.
The next step is a component cable here; this is red, green, and blue. Now these can broadcast at HD signal in analog, but it can go to Full HD 1080p. Now the highest level and the newest are HTMI codes may be you have heard of these. Now one important thing to remember about HTMI is that a digital signal, so it really doesn't matter the quote and quality. If it works you are going to get that good signal. Now here I have two HTMI cables, it really expensive one that was probably $70 or $80 in store like Best buy and one I got over the internet for about $5 you know what they work exactly to the same. So if you are going to pick up some HTMI cables and I recommended for a lot of HT sources get a cheap one online. If you are not comfortable buying online find a friend, who is there, is no reason you need to spend $70 or $80 for something you can get for $5.
So now I'm going to start plugging everything in. For this particular setup I have a play station 3, I have an HDDVR and a satellite input and I've a home theatre system that has built in DVD player okay. Now your system is obliviously going to vary, but I'm going show you just how to work this particular setup.
Now I would like to start at easy and for me easy means HTMI and the play station 3 can broadcast in Full HD that has built in blue-ray player and so I want to make sure to use an HTMI cable for my PS3 connection, so I can get 4 benefits.
So first thing I'm going to plug in the HTMI cable to the HTMI out on the PS3 and then use one of the two inputs on the TV that have an HTMI connection, just like that, just that easy I love HTMI. The second HT component I have is the satellite DVR, now that -- you know I got my discovery HT my HPO-HT so I want to use the other HTMI input for that DVR, so I plug one end in into the HTMI out here and again the other HTMI input here. Now I up to my home theatre, now this has a DVD system that I want to go out in to the TV. Now it has an HTMI out, but unfortunately if you don't have anymore HTMI inputs, so the next best thing is the component setup and we are going to use that. Its okay that we don't use a HTMI anyway it's just regular DVD it's not even an HT, so I think it'll be okay.
Now I plug one end in and here plug in the video out and then I plug the other three into the component in over here. Now lastly I want all these sources to able to broadcast out though the home theatre right here. So I need all of it flow back into the home theatre in the way I'm going to do that is that I'm going to use the TV which has a digital audio out, which will allow me to broadcast out the 7.1 or 5.1 surround sound, so this has a optical out and coaxial out I don't have any optical cables I don't even have what they called coaxial, but really a coaxial could be a composite or anything, because remember we're broadcasting out in digital and it'll work just fine for digital, so I'm going to plug this yellow guy in the coaxial out and then there is a coaxial digital in on the home theatre over here. Just like that, it's just that easy now all the audio signals are going to come into the TV and then back out into the home theatre so we can get that rich precious sound.
So now that we have all the components replugged in all we need to do is plugging all the power cores again, boot everything up and we're ready to watch on HDD TV on our new set. I'm Ben Meyer for digital landing and we'll see you next time.
