Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome to your butterscotch.com on how to set your screensaver in Ubuntu.
So here we’re going to click on system preferences, move down to screensaver and click on that and here we are in the screensaver preferences. Ubuntu comes with a wide range of screen savers, everything from a blank screen to all kinds of movement.
Now modern monitors really don’t need screensavers, most of them shut themselves off, put them into a standby mode. But then early computers, screensavers we’re needed and they put movement on the screen to stop images from being burnt in to the computer screen. But even though they aren’t really necessary anymore, most people still like them. So it’s kind of fun and now if you find one that you want you want to see what it might look like on your whole screen, you can come here and click on preview so you can see what it looks like when it’s on and you can go up here and click Leave Fullscreen, it’s kind of strange, you can go over here and click activate screensaver when the computer is idle and then up above, you can set how long you consider it to be before the computer is idle.
One minute, 12 minutes, 10 minutes is a good figure and you can also check this box to lock the screen when the screensaver is active. So this is setting a screensaver in Ubuntu and that’s all there is to it.
