Setting the time remote is really quite simple. Your drive mode options are right here. The time remote is this timer icon. Let’s move the switch all the way down through the timer icon and what this does is include the timer function in the quick menu. You can access the timer function via the main menu as well but the quick menu seems to be a lot faster. Go and press the quick menu button right up here. Move over to the timer option and here you can select two-second timer and you have two ten-second timer option.
The two second timer is really great for when you’re using a tripod, you just want to press the shutter button gently release the camera and give it a second to stop shaking before taking a picture. This is great for long exposures. The ten-second option is great for when you want to press the shutter button, quickly run over and get yourself in the picture.
The middle option is ten-second timers with three pictures. So basically, what this is designed for is to get yourself in the picture and take three pictures just in case and one of the pictures someone is blinking. The problem with this timer function is that it takes 10 seconds to take every picture. And once I’ve gone into the picture, I don’t need the camera to take another ten seconds until it takes the next picture. So there’s a work around that’s really quite simple.
If you want to get yourself in the picture and take two or three pictures just to make sure one of them comes out good, choose the first and second option. Move over to the film mode. Go up to the multi film mode and press set. Now, you want to press the film mode button right here and choose what you want as your multi film mode options. So the first one is standard and this is what we normally use. Make the second one standard as well.
Now, we have two standard film mode options, so two pictures will be taken and both of them are actually the same film mode. If I want a third picture to be taken, I’ll go down to the multi film three-option, move over to the right, also choose standard here. Now, I’m taking three pictures after ten seconds. There will only be two seconds between each picture. Go and press set. Now, I’ve got the ten-second timer selected and the multi film mode selected. So I just have to press the shutter button once, quickly run over and get myself in the picture and the camera will take three pictures, the second picture will be two seconds after the first, and the third will be two seconds after the second.
