So I can click start now, so we can click start this up. Well this is specific to HP now the built box I have built before I haven’t done this so this is a software that it is specific to HP media smart server. Okay now, I actually have to repeat that I just need to restart the console, so we got some task here saying 106 setup HP media start software.
So configure that so it is automatically update that looks fine. Let see now this are obviously different steps so these are all the setting so I can do where setup a backup. Times, passwords, media sharing, so about to turn those alt, my access we’ll come back at later – hardware there. On the monitors the windows fan spins and CPU temperatures and we turn on the updates and not necessary any of these photos or I choose it for now. So I can hit okay now, so now I need to create some user accounts. So our user accounts and that will be enable guest.
So I am going to add my account and not going to enable to access on this account at the moment, so now I set the user name password to be the same as my vista machine. So I can synchronize a password together in that way to date. For more access I am going to configure that now and turn that on. I am going to separate user to do my access, so this is now testing the router to see whether it can open the port. So I got actually got a port open for this one already for my other box. So let us see what this is what this does, okay it has not configured that.
Now I let it configure it- let see now we do the setup here, I think it got to have a problem setting up the port forwarding. And I will do that form the browser, so I’m going to come back to that- so I will redo my access some of the task-photo share I’m going to do that, we’ve done the media sharing and learn more have with that. So here, we have this it has to be the computer other computer machine- in my windows machine it’s called Lonsso and that is ready to do a backup now. So I am going to turn on backups, well that is going to serve as my storage for we could see the server utilization. And there is a shared folder so – knows in my user account, then the media smart –we got the updates installed in there.
And it looks just to adjust the bright on the LED and the front as well which is quite nice and that does to it. And let me pan the camera down some of the way so that you can see off put the bright that is quite nice function. Alright let us see now if I can to keep a back up off now and that’s going to take some time so I am going to keep that anyway. Do a manual backup, the name and I am starting to backup so I can click that to view it, if I go to erase them back. Backup you can see there backing up, this is now the little bug that is fixing the power pack which is the release of home servers coming out. And it is a couple of months along with a fix data corruption issue and it should say a windows is long gone we should say windows vista ultimate service pack 1.
So where we can see the backup is starting so this is going to take awhile- stands back and you can see what is doing now is actually determine which is close to the change. One thing that I have found is the way the home server backup it works is the initial backup machine takes quite a while. Unless there is software, machine a lot quicker because for example the windows installation, it’s already got so when it comes to backup and another machine in the same tablet. Its already got the windows file so it doesn’t need to do that again so it’s a lot quicker when it goes to backup some quite devices. So actual to backup this media center machine which is connected on the LAN directly to the home server rather than to the wireless one which would take longer because that is the first time that backup take to come and play.
So I am into my router and so now I am going to check the more access settings. So that’s file up let’s refresh that so what I’ve done is I setup the port forward so any what I request to the port that the home server needs is setup already. And when you find the details and help files on windows home server looks like it found a button and I think it will be okay with on that. And I can setup a domain name so you can have a domain name, so this you can call it fredsmith.windowshomerver.com or whatever so that you can find it if you get into a web browser and to remote control this one. So I already got the name and registered so that we can pull that in, and so I setup the shared folder so let’s have a see what I got on to my machine now. I got a shared folder icon there which take me to the shared folders on the home server and I can drop stuff into these public and business book every way. User it is all the users access to which includes anyone which we created before, the remote one is a user I created for more access testing.
So I got everything now so let’s do the backup, I configured my remote access so the next task is to go to another machine and install the console. Now I can take the CD and do that or I can browses the home server machine by putting in the I’ll pass this back so that I can show you right now. Here we go, browse this machine and I get these to shared folder so I can go to my tablet PC, which hasn’t got a drive on it and do that and install a home server connector. I cant really involved because the backup is joining and it will be able to do sometime so that is simple really and getting this operating and the backup is running, I configure my router to the port forward. So I got the remote access working and I need to run test that now.
That the home server setup and do a backup and nice and simple you can see there is no need to go in to the box. And after there is no way you get into the box and there is no video port on there, there’s no keyboard, mouse or whatsoever. So I got the setup and running I got the back ups setup and install and run this machine. So I now I’m going to run and install another machine create actually uses to test more run access. And basically I’m up and running nice and simple figure it in hours something likes that and most hours waiting for the update to come down. So nice and simple so what I will probably do is leave this for a bit now.
