How to Sew a Dress (in less than an hour)
Take the measurements according to instruction of the one our dress pattern write them down. Rewash and iron your materials so it is ready to go. Divide material into two parts. Measure of from one end of your material the blade blouse length and place a pin on the edge material to mark the point, minus a 36-inch length. Clip to the selvage and either tare or cut across depending on your fabric weather it tares well or whether where you like to cut exactly. This shorter piece will be the blouse piece.
Here is the trick I has to cut straight sometimes, I have a straight line in my table. I just put my fabric exactly where I want along the line and start cutting along the clothe and the table. Okay. The shorter part is for the blouse. Now, take the larger piece of the material and cut from it of the belt and skirt. First, you measure of two inches from the salvage edge. The salvage edge is the finish edge of the piece of material. Not the cut edge but the edge that is along the length of your material, like this. Two-inch strip of material for your belt. If you make tare as actually deeper than your skirt length then you will want to cut or tare off the extra amount.
I actually want a fairly long skirt and the skirt made is two and a half inches longer than what I want which is 31 and a half inches which is going to actually buff on my fabric. So, I am not going to cut some extra, this bottom end and at the salvage edge is going to become the hump of your skirt. So, you are going to save your self a hump.
Fold this larger piece in half and to cut it and that you have two pieces and that would be your skirt front and back.
