How to Shimmy in Belly Dance
On behalf of TVLesson.com, my name is Yasmeen and I’m a professional belly dance
instructor.
On this clip, I’m going to show you how to do Shimmy for belly dancing. So, you are
going to put your feet a little bit closer than shoulder-width apart and you are going to
alternate the bending of the knee; left, right. And you are going to keep faster and faster
until the movement rise up to the bottom half of your body. You can really make it really
strong or you can make it slow.
[Demonstration]
You can alternate it and make it faster and go slow. You can do it on one leg. We can
also do it with one. And that’s how you do a Shimmy.
Another thing that you can do with Shimmy is you can alternate the weight. So, I’m
going to put all my weight on the right side of my body and I’m going to start the
Shimmy with the right side. And you can alternate it to the left. This looks good also
sideways. You can also do a Figure Eight with the Shimmy and you can do a Maya with
the Shimmy, going down and coming back up. That’s how you do a Shimmy.
On behalf of TVLesson.com, this is has been Yasmeen. Thank you for watching.
