How to Shop for Men's Makeup
Hi everyone, here I am again wit a new tutorial after covering a couple of looks for make
up for men. One, it was a fresh look; you know something you can use everyday which is
what I’m wearing right now. For example or the other one is tan look the healthy tan just
fresh from the beach just off the bank from the Bahamas but yes, you saw it and I’m sure
you probably wanted to try it and excited that you can do that yourself but you should be
the most difficult part of the make up process. It’s not really the make up itself but it’s
getting the make up especially for men because it’s quite unusual or unnatural per se for
men to go shopping for make-up.
At least you know in the people’s minds but it’s not that, it’s not like that. A lot of
professionals a lot of make up artist they go and they buy from make-up not only for
themselves but for their clients and usually for women because usually that’s the clients
they have so you know they are buying eye shadows and lipsticks, things that are not
what we’re going to be buying for us so you would in that case, you don’t have to really
to worry so much by being judged by anyone in the make-up counter or in a store
thinking that you’re weird because you’re looking for a make-up. But it is a sensitive
topic and there is a few ways around it and this is what I recommend you know whenever
people ask me, “Oh okay, what should I do, how should I go about this?”
As far as you have the internet which is a great tool, anonymous tool you know it can be
a man, it can be a dog, it can be a girl, it can be elephant and it doesn’t matter you don’t
know who’s buying it so for the basic products that we use some of them at least which is
the brush, the bronzer, the lipstick or the exhibit A by Nars for the sunburn look. You can
do that only on the internet easily and you know. No one know that your guy body
makeup but it’s you know not the same as buying in the store because it’s always good to
feel the product and see the color and the texture and feel how it looks in your skin and
compare with other colors, compare with other brands so I would definitely you know
suggest you get over your shyness and your timidness and go in there and just you know
buy your own products and who cares, you know you’re paying for it and it’s come on
it’s 2009 already. You know it’s time to end with this stupid taboo.
But I know that it is hard, I go, I shop for everything but anyone butts in that was the end
of that stuff but you know this is hard for some guys. So for foundation and some
concealer there’s no way around it, you need to trust against your skin, you need to know
what is the right color for you so you need to literally put it on and see if it matches your
skin so there’s two ways to go about this one is going to the store and you can lie. You
can say that you’re shopping for make-up for your mother or for your sister or for I don’t
know. Yeah somebody related to you and then the make-up artist is going to ask you so
what’s the color of they’re skin or her skin and just say well this is my sister like mine so
you can use mine as a reference for color.
So you know that’s a little white lie that people will think, at least it’s going to give you
comfort because she’s a sales woman, she doesn’t give a shit, you know if it’s for you or
for your mother or for you know whoever, but if it gives you a some kind of comfort and
it makes it easy for you then just say a little white lie and you know just go from there.
The other option it’s to a lot of companies do that. They go to website and you can order
samples for very small prize like $1 or $2 or yeah figuring out a few errors plus the
shipping and they will send you samples of concealers and foundations and whatever
really you want so you know you just log on, go to a few websites.
I would suggest Nars, Laura Mercier, MAC what else, Trish McEvoy. These are really,
really good make up forever as well. These are brands that make really, oh sure more also
really good, sure more is a great one. These are brands that produce makeup that are very
suitable for man because they besides MAC, they go and make-up forever. They go for
the very natural look; you know they don’t add too much pizzazz to their make up line.
You know, they’re going more for the flawless skin and the perfect skin look than the
make up skin look, you know, so I will check those websites and order a feel, you know
different tones of foundation and concealer.
I would say 2 or 3 at least you know I mean look at the color in the screen and look at the
color against your skin and just get one above and one below and just use that to check it,
that’s the right color for your skin and remember you check it against the side of your
face and your neck. This is where you want to match your foundation and your concealer
just a little bit lighter than your foundation. One shade lighter than your foundation so if
you first find the color of your foundation and get a concealer that’s one shade lighter,
usually the shades are concealers are more limited but— .
So this is how we would go about the embarrassment of going out there and buying
make-up but it’s silly, get over it you know you don’t have to be ashamed of looking
good, you know people that look dreadful, they should be ashamed because nowadays
there’s other technology and other products out there you know, you only look busted if
you want to, okay so this is my tutorial for today and I hope that helps and I hope all you
guys out there are wearing make-up because why not. You know so until next time, thank
you for watching, bye.
