How to Simplify Mathematical Expressions

One way to simplify mathematical expressions, we need to follow the order of operations. The order of operations tells us that the first step is to take care of any parentheses or other grouping symbols. After that we solve exponents which are the same thing as powers. After that we multiply and divide, working from left to right and then we add and subtract working from left to right The commonly used acronym to help us remember the order of operations is PLEASE EXCUSE MY DEAR AUNT SALLY. If you take the first letter of every word in PLEASE EXCUSE MY DEAR AUNT SALLY, you have the acronym PEMDAS which will remind you of the proper order of operations.
