How to Slice Toasted Almonds
Hi. Here's a Betty’s quick tip. I'm having a frozen chocolate pack for dinner tonight. And
it's going to be topped with whip topping and also some chocolate curls and also some
sliced almonds, but I want those sliced almonds toasted. Here's the slice almonds and
going to show you how to toast them.
You need just a little bit of butter and a pan. I use probably half a teaspoon full. You
don’t need to much at all you just don’t want your almonds to have a connection with the
pan there should be some cushion of oil of some kind so I use butter. Pour as many as
you want to toast in there and then turn the heat to low and then you're going to move
them around continually and you're going to watch them very carefully because they can
burn just like that. And if they burn they are bitter, so our main goal here is to get a nice
golden look don’t let it brown because it seems to continue to cook after you get it on the
skillet, it will turn black. So let me get these browned up and then I will serve them on
plate that you can see.
So here is how your almond slices should look when you have them toasted. And I put
them on some paper toweling because of the butter, the little bit of butter that I had in the
skillet, I want them drained nicely and I don’t want them to have any extra fat, because
that’s what they have. But those are -- that’s the look that you should have. You don’t
want anything really darker than this. In fact, those two, if all of them were like that, then
I'm sure some of them would be even darker because they’re not going to brown all at the
same lever. So these are nice and ready to just sit until we put them on as a garnish for
out ice cream party tonight.
