Cary William Nunez: Hey Cary Williams Nunez, Angelo Nunez here with Primetime Boxing featuring Everlast getting into some punch bag, heavy bag combinations and some defense work.
Angelo Nunez: We’re going to get into some basic movements guys. In boxing we go defense to offense. I know we can do this all day long, we’re going to go defense to offense, we’re going to work a basic slip to the left and slip to the right. We’re going to call the terminologies again as slip, slip.
Go – slip, slip. Again, defensive moment you want to pull them in. Go – slip, slip. Focusing on the trunk of the body; Go – slip, slip. Stabilize the legs don’t bend the knees anymore from the hips and drop the shoulder down. Go – slip, slip. Hands in front; don’t let this occur that the hands fall. Go – slip, slip. Focusing on the waist. Go – slip, slip. Now, we’re going to slip, slip we’re going to defense yourself in and you're going to come back with an offensive move then. Slip to the left. Slip to the right. Always looking forward. See the right hand – straight right, pull the left hook and straight right.
Now, again we’re going to switch this up. Remember heavy bag work is different from instruction work. We’re going to slip left, slip right, straight right. Now when you feel the left hook imagine the heavy bag-- come up hook and right. Good, excellent!
So again, now we’re going to demonstrate on the heavy bag. Remember slip left, slip right. Ready, go! Slip, slip. Go – slip, slip. Go – slip, slip. Now we’re going to incorporate the right hand. Go – slip, slip; right. That’s it and throw the shoulder into it. Go – slip, slip, right. Again holds the back and she hits high. Go – slip, slip, right. Turn the back more than usual. Go – slip, slip, right. Again, put pressure on the back of the foot. Go – slip, slip, right. Turn the hand over and lax the neck. Go – slip, slip, right. Now we’re going to add left hook. Go – slip, slip, right hook.
See open hook up. You just hit him with the right hand they're leaning backwards pull the hookup on top go for the ear; go – slip, slip, right hook. That’s right! Now she’s going to deliver the right hand. Go – slip, slip, right hook, right. Remember you’ve got to feel this in your lower abs and your back to work at the waits. Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right. Bounce off the back of the foot. You are getting some rhythm and you are going to lean a little bit forward because you're tossing your weight around but try to stabilize the center balance in the middle of your stance. Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right – to work on the waist guys. Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right. Can you hit a little harder than that? Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right. There you go relax the neck you’ve got to push with the back foot. Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right. My neck is relaxed.
Now, when I throw some power shots I want to make sure I get out of the hole – I want to triple jab out. Believe it or not that triple jab it relaxes you and slips you right back in motion. Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right, pop, pop, pop. Shake it right back into your stance. Again, when you're throwing power shots boom, boom, boom this is how you relax getting out of the hole. Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right, pop, pop, pop.
Now we’re going to dance around the bag and Cary is going to demonstrate what we’re working on. I know visualization is where it’s at but I'm going to give you a little peak into it. So Cary is going to face me. Again, I'm going to throw one and she’s going to slip. She’s looking right down. And let’s say I'm going to slip again – no matter how fast I am you see the opening here where my chin is exposing you know my hand is up straight – right – oh, direct to my chin; left hook and straight right. Now let’s say I'm here and I'm going to throw right hand and she’s going to pop the triple jab -- Go – boom, boom, boom. You get the idea? So again we’re going to switch and dance around the back. So do you get the idea? Again, we get this combination going you get the idea what’s going on. Ready? Go – slip, slip, right, hook, right, pop, pop, pop.
And again, that’s the basic combination. So when you're working on the heavy bag remember focus on the truck, do you get the idea?
