Hello. I’d like to ask anybody using Ubuntu 9.04 64-bit versions. Are you getting the same problems I’m getting?
Now, the problems are trivial but they’re might be affecting my PC. I don’t know. What I mean is that I got two gigs of memory and it’s not reporting as two gigs. I just go to the system monitor. I’ll show you what I mean. See in the memory and swap history? You’ll see here, that when you’re recording 1.9 gigabytes.
Now, I’ve used Ubuntu 9.04, 32-bit and read as 2 gigabytes. I’ve also tried Ubuntu 8.10 and also Linux Mint 6 and they’re both 64-bit version and 32-bit and they both recognizes as two gigabytes.
For some reason, Ubuntu Jaunty 64-bit doesn’t recognize it. And I have reported in the Alpha Testing Stages and also the Beta and I don’t know. Nothing happened about it. Now I don’t know whether that’s a major issue or not. To me it doesn’t seem right. But okay, I don’t know how important this issue is really. I just like to ask if anybody else is getting the correct memory reading or you’ll also get and incorrect memory readings.
And another point I like to raise is when I’m watching YouTube Videos or Flash Videos, what I have noticed is that I light going across. And I’ll show you what I mean. I think some screen prints.
Now this is a fast moving video. It’s auto. And if you notice here, across are these lines. And you’ll see that flickering across your screen. It’s not that particular video, there’s other video as well. The faster they go, the worst it is, you see? Watch this football clip about “Best Goal Celebrations” and as you can see theirs is a line going across the screen. You’ll see that going across.
Now I don’t know whether it’s the 64-bit version of Flash Player. I don’t know. I tried 32-bit yesterday. I didn’t recognize this sort of problem. It might have been there. I just didn’t recognized this but it is under 64-bit version.
But when I was using Windows, isn’t it I have that problem so I don’t know whether it’s an issue with Linux and the Flash Plug-in but that I don’t know. But I like to ask you other people opinions really. You know. Are you getting the same problem or similar problem? And if you have, have you been able to fix it? I mean if you have I’d like to know anyways around it. Because the way I normally install the Flash Player, is that when I put Ubuntu 1. After updating the system and getting the graphics card drivers, I would then go to the application after move and ill go for Ubuntu Restricted Extras and that goes the Flash Player and all the Plug-ins are there. And that’s the way I get the Flash Player you see.
So, I would really appreciate any feedback really from people who are using Ubuntu 64-bit version because I might be doing something wrong. Okay.
