[Foreign Language] My name is Miheala Coman WatchMojo.com. And today, I’ll be teaching you some Romanian words. But before we begin, there are two things I’d like you to know. First, Romanian is one of the Five Latin languages, and second, in our alphabet, we have twenty seven letters. We do not have the letter Q, W or Y but we have an A with an accent like this which is “uh” and A with an accent like this which is “eh” an S with a coma which is “Sh” and a T with a comma which is “Seh”. So that will help you in your learning process.
So let’s start with the greetings. If you want to say “Good morning” you say “buna ziua”. If you want to say “Good night”, you say “Noapte buna”. If you just want to say “hello”, you say “buna” or you can also say “salut”. If you want to say goodbye, you can say “la revedere”. But if you just want to say bye, you can say pa. If you’d like to say yes, you say “da”. If you like to say no, you say nu. If you like to thank somebody, you either say multumesc but you can also say the short version which is mersi. If you like to ask somebody how are you, you can say ce mai faci. If you like to say please to somebody, if it’s an elderly person or you like to use respect, you say va rog. If you want to say it to your friend or anybody else, you can say te rog.
To say you’re welcome, you say cu placere which means with pleasure. If you want to introduce yourself and you want to say your name, you can say ma numesk Miheala or you can say ma kiama Mihaeala. If you want to ask somebody what their name is, you can say cum te kiama or kum te numeste. But if you speak to an elderly person and want to use more respect, you can say cum va numit or cum va kiamat. If you want to say left stanga, if you want to say right, you can say drepta.
Notice that we pronounce our R’s, rrrrrrrrrr and not ar like the English language. The expression pleased to meet you is not very common in Romanian. There’s no short way of saying it but you can say [foreign language] or if it’s an elderly person, you can say [foreign language].
If ever you’re in trouble and you need to say help, the word on itself is ajutor. But if you want to ask for help, you can say am nevoie de ajutor which means I need help. To wrap it up, I would just like you to tell the next Romanian person you meet [foreign] and you’ll figure out what that means.
