So in Windows Vista the Start menu search can be slow if we have a lot of files. We can speed it up by customizing the search criteria. So for example if you want to do a search right now for the keyboard Windows, well that will provide me a long list here of files, bookmarks, favorites and the programs that are on my computer that have that keyword.
I don’t want to see this silly all about it might take too long for search to all of that. So why won’t we narrow it and speed up the search to just show for example the programs. And in order to do that, we right click on the Start or button and then go into the properties. So click on properties put there we maybe able to click on customize so in the customize option screen scroll all the way down to search and you will find another search box is there. If you have any of the following – such as Search communications, Search payment and history un-check those.
And also, select don’t search for files, so you should have something similar to what I have here. And this one there on the criteria has speed up your search, so now after you done these selections. Then go ahead and press OK on the properties screen and then on the next screen click on OK as well.
This time when you go to do the search for that same keyword Windows for example now the criteria for searching is narrowed down to programs. That start with that keyword Widows and you can see how fast that came up, you can now speed up the search and narrow it down to what we want. And this tip applies to all Windows Vista
Editions enjoy.
