Hey guys, this is Jaypee with REI tips.com and I have got a great little tip I want to share with you really quick today. I should say that this video is going to be a little out of the ordinary compared to most of my tips videos. First of all, it is probably not going to be the most professional tips video that I have ever done.
You may hear my family having some fun upstairs without me. Hopefully you would not feel bad against me though. It is also a little off the real estate investing topic. As you know, most of the videos have put out a real estate investing tips. But today, I want to share with you one of the coolest little tools I found in a long time. It is called MySpeed and it is directly responsible for saving me literally hours and hours and hours of time on the internet over the last couple of weeks since I discovered it.
Let me just tell you the page you are looking at right here, it can be found at enounce.com/myspeed/php or if you do not remember that, you can just go to enounce.com and you will see a link to this page right at the top of the page that you land on. As you can see, it allows you to watch You Tube videos faster, but hang with me here because this is even better than that.
First of all, it is not just You Tube videos. If you look down here, it says, it actually works with any other flash video. And you may or may not know what a flash video and I am not going into a tutorial on that right now. But the bottom line is most video that you watch online is some kind of flash video whether it is a video on an obtained page for somebody’s course or some real estate investing training material or a You Tube video or any of the other video-sharing sites. They all use flash these days. More and more that is the case.
So, what this little tool allows you to do is watch more videos in a less time by speeding up the playback of the video. And now, what is really cool is I found I can go up to about twice speed and still comprehend what they are saying. And you will think that it would make him sound like “Alvin and the Chipmunks”, but it does not. It actually I do not know how it does this. It compensates somehow so that it actually plays it faster but it does not sound like a chipmunk.
So, it has been a huge timesaver for me because I find that I myself am investing more and more time as each week goes on. It seems consuming video content online. You know whether it is a training material or just I am trying to size up somebody’s course or training materials of some sort. You know I love online video but it calls to be a huge time drain. So I could tell you, it has been a real lifesaver for me.
Now, it is a free download okay? No strings attached. It is absolutely free. I have been playing around these things for a little while and I will just show you how it works. It is pretty self-explanatory here. When you download the software, it actually moves this over so you could see it right down here in my sistray. Now, it only works on Windows apparently, so if you are a Mac user, you are out of luck but it works in internet explorer or Firefox either browser I noticed.
There it is in my sistray, and when I start playing a video, what is does is automatically this will pop up, this little dialogue box. This little control panel. This is what it looks like on my computer I guess. That is may be somebody else’s version of it but the default would be for it to play right here at one which is just in normal speed.
If I want to speed this up typically, I will go nearer from 1 ½ to twice the speed and I can do it dynamically. So if I am on a middle of the video and I am like oh gosh this is just taking too longer I can see these things 10 minutes longer and I have only got 5 minutes to spend. I am going to speed this poppy up and listen to it in half the time.
Conversely, if I want to -- this has not happen to me but you know, let us say I want to transcribe a video, I want to type some notes and they are talking too fast. I can actually slow it down. Now, I will say when you slow down a video pretty much makes ever
