HI, this is Mike here from mikecomputertips.com in the last video I showed you how to modify the startup programs and Windows by using msconfig with the system configuration utility and Windows Vista. This is all free by the way, this is all part of windows as you can—you don’t need software to do this. This time I'm going to show you I guess what you could call the hardcore version of how to do it. This is actually going into the registry and deleting keys itself. So this is not the safe way to do it but this is how I do it once you're familiar with Windows you don’t want to just disable things you want to actually just get rid of them because you know you don’t need them.
So first thing what you do is go to Start, run and type in regedit and click Enter. Okay, now this shows you, this is the registry this is what Windows uses to store information about all your software. So a quick tip about the registry you can move through a quickly using the arrow keys, you can right arrow you can go down as far as you want then lift arrow to go back up. So where we want to go is on the Hkey local machine, software, then go to—you can click M then go down to Microsoft, right arrow key to expand that then you want to go W for Windows, find windows expand that then current version, expand that then go—press R for run and then here we go. Here's all the things that have shown that will start up when you build into windows and this is where it actually use in the registry so when you delete this things they're gone.
So you want to make sure that you know what you're deleting. So you can just—some of them you might not be able to tell exactly what they are and by names here and if you're not sure it’s probably best not to delete them just use the system configuration utility to disable them, restart you computer and then see if you get any errors or actually see if it works faster. So if you not sure what they are you can go over to data here and look at the path to what file is running and that will give you a better idea of what the application actually is.
Now that’s where most of them will be. There is another place where if you find that you disable or deleted these things from here but you load up windows and you still have these things loading but you cannot find go back up to the top here and go to Hkey current use up and you want to go over the source that same path onto to so it software, Microsoft, windows then current version then run and then that you might find them under here they’ll be a few extras here so you can't delete them form here as well.
Now, I showed this in the other video but if you got RegCure you can do all this through that and it’s a bit more safer, it’s a bit more easier to use I guess. So when that’s loaded you go to a manage start up and you can see all the items in here so you can click one and then you can disable it or go remove selected and that will do what we just did through the registry but it will just do it the easier here through RegCure so you can click a few of these. Yeah, remove them and that’s how you do it.
