How to Split Panes in Excel 2007
One way that you can view information in Excel 2007 simultaneously is by using the split pane option and it will put different parts of your worksheet into separate panes and those separate panes will have their own scroll bars. It’s a little bit different than just freezing panes.
To do this click on your view tab and you’re looking for the Windows section and you have your split button right here and just that button and before you can click that you need to decide where you want your split to occur. If you want to have a horizontal split you’re going to want to click the cell underneath where you want the split to occur. So if you want the split to occur in between rows one and two, you’re going to click on A2 and you’re got to go up and click your split button and it’s going to create a split right between your row one and row two.
Now to take the split off you just click the split button again and it will take it off. Now if you want to create a vertical split you’re going to click on a cell to the right of where you want the vertical split to occur. So if you want the vertical split to occur between A and B columns, click in B1, go out and click your split button and it is going to give you a split right between your eight and your B column and go ahead and take this off by clicking the split button again.
Now if you want to create four different panes you can create either two panes or four panes when you split. So for instance if we want both our top row and our first column to be split we could click the intersection of B2 and then click on the split button and it’s going to give us a split so we have four different sections and you could see that we have scroll bars with each of these sections.
We’ll go ahead and take it off, and there’s one more way that you can split panes in Excel and these are by using the split boxes and there’s actually two of this. Your vertical split box is in your lower right hand corner and it’s a small line, when you click over your line then you can move, just click and drag and let go where you want your split to occur, when you want to take it off just click the split button again. Now up here in the upper right hand corner is your horizontal split line.
Move that down and let go. Now if you created a split and it’s not quite where you want, you can grab a hold of that split just by holding your mouse over the split line and you will get a double headed arrow and then simply move where you want the split to occur.
