Corrine: Hey, there Robin and Corrine here. Welcome to Thread Heads. This week, we are hanging out with Ready Made Magazine.
Robin: And because they are going to put up there first ever at Annual RE-FASHION Issue. We decided to stop by the office here in Berkley and see what is up.
Shoshana: Hey, I am Shoshana Berger and I am the Editor-In-Chief of Ready Made Magazine.
Grace: Hi! My name is Grace Hawthorne. I am the President and Publisher of Ready Made Magazine.
Shoshana: We give people instructions for how to turn everyday objects into extraordinary design.
Grace: Wow! This is not just a magazine. This is Martin Stewart all you need it for the next generation.
Shoshana: We have to focus on environmental use and sustainability. So, the idea is to take the cast off of our culture reinvent them.
Grace: The edition to like the daily duties of running the company and kind of giving the magazine out in day to day staff. Shon and I kind of uphold the time out of our hat to make a book, and what is different about the book is unlike the magazine which is over 60%reader contributed. This book is a 100% original content bys Shoshana and myself.
Shoshana: So, consider this as an invitation. If you have any ideas you been working on or your just been tapering for a long time and you think maybe this would work in the writing mail, send us an email. You can send it to articles@readymademag.com. Be brave, make stuff.
Corrine: We are pretty brave. So, we decided to search through every issue to find the most interesting fashion projects ever featured. First and foremost, the solution for your all old Metro Cards, the Metro Belt. Logo, wallet, and laptop case, the ultimate test for self control and here is a great way to keep your earrings from all tangled up, magazine holders get a new life as a brief case and speaker seams by sticker by Todd Oldham. Yes! Now, you can wipe your mouth on your on your sleeve without getting yelled at, and never been late again with your new watch bracelet. Hey! I need one of this. Then, for all those rainy days there are skirts made up of old umbrellas. I recommend pairing one with a picnic table cloth rain poncho. Though, this may attract some ants.
Robin: When we return a lesson from Ready Made’s new Re-fashion issue.

Robin: So, last week Streetforce1 wrote in with a cool link from Producer Emma S. over the associated content. She has got a bunch of cool DIY videos and one in particular about using a aluminum foil barbeque trays and some spray paint to make anything polka dot. A brilliant idea, then we saw the new Ready Made Re-fashion Issue and there project using a chicken wire fencing to pattern dresses. A new was assigned. We just had to do something making patterns out of junk.
First, inspired from the cover, we literally screen printed a dress using and old metal window screen and a can of spray paint. If you are attempting this make sure you use semi-flat spray paint and spray evenly for best results.
Not finding any chicken fencing like the magazine you use we ended up snagging some extra construction fencing from a nearby site and attach a piece of it just an old cardboard using swish string.
Then, we grab some screen printing fabric ink lathered it on and apply it firmly like a stamp. Giving this drab skirt a whole new life.
And then, there this sprocket thing, we randomly found this like 2 years ago walking down the street in LA and it has been sitting in our closet ever since. Finally, we get to use it.
We coated it with a bunch of fabric ink and then applied it firmly. First to the skirt and then, to this plain hand bag, turning both in its totally rag new gear. And there we have, a Ready Made Magazine inspired wardrobe.
Definitely, check out the new Re-Fashion Issue. For more cool stuff and make sure that hit at the site for complete archive of every Ready Made Project ever published..
So, thanks everybody here at Ready Made for having us over and remember, keep sending in those questions and comments
Corrine: And if you have anything you did fashion take some pictures and we will put on the show.
Robin: Until next week. We are out of here.
