How to Start Low Glycemic Load Diet

Mike Roussell: So, why do we like low glycemic load diet so much. One of the reasons is you are going to get a lot more nutrients because there is that emphasis on fruits and vegetables as your primary carbohydrate source, you are going to be getting lots of nutrients.

You also get better blood sugar control, especially if you are insulin resistant and this is because you are going to be eating less starches, more fruits and vegetables, more fiber, more lower impact carbs, you get to eat more from a volume perspective because fruits and vegetables have a much bigger volume on a calorie basis compared to grains and starches.

So, if you eat more food, which everybody likes, studies show you more weight loss especially if you are insulin resistant and these types of diets are usually higher fiber diets too so you get lots of fiber. So, this is why we like low glycemic load diets.
