How to Stop Text From Auto Fitting in PowerPoint 2007
When you’re typing on a text box that’s too small for what you’re typing, PowerPoint is going to try to auto fit the contents and they will do that a couple of different ways. It might make your font smaller, it might increase the size of the text box, it’s got a kind of used whatever is going around, it’s to decide how it’s going to fit your text in that text box. If you want it to not change your text to fit it in the text box you can specify that.
So let’s go ahead and I’m going to start typing on this text box and which is enough for one line but you see as I get down the two lines it’s got to start changing it to try to fit it in that box.
Okay, you could see when I started getting towards the edge that I get this auto fit options button and if you watch my text turned a little bit smaller already and I’m not even done with my title. Well, let’s go ahead and click on that button and right now it’s set to auto fit that text into the place holder. I can click on stop fitting text in this place holder and it will go ahead. It takes me down to the next line because it’s out of room in the text box but it doesn’t try to fit that in the text box anymore, it goes ahead and lets me type it outside of it.
Click away and it looks fine. It’s just not on the text box anymore so there’s an option for you if you want to stop your text from being auto fitted into those text boxes.
