Hi guys! This is Mike Weiss from stopcatpeeing.com. Thanks for checking out the video.
You have a cat that is peeing, where it should not and you want to know how to stop it.
Let me tell you a little story about me and how I came to become a bit of a guru in this
field.
My wife and I had a cat about two and a half years ago that one day decided to
abandoned the litter box and start peeing on our bed, of all places. After about three or
four different quilts, we decided that it was time to bring him to the vet and find out if
there was anything medically wrong with him. Well it turns out there was and he had a
bit of urinary tract infection which required him to be hospitalized for about four days
which cost us over $1200.00, which is a little bit uncomfortable. So we decided that we
would look into ways of putting this behind us and I’ve gone and put together a website
that basically is the results of all our research into stopping our cat peeing outside the
litter box. And I would like to share with you a little bit of what I have learned.
Where to begin, with the cat that pees outside the litter box is a bit of a tricky thing. The
very first thing that you want to do is you want to bring the cat to the vet. You have to do
that. You have to do that right away. If it’s a male cat in particular and it has a urinary
blockage of any kind that can be potentially life threatening so you want to, you want to
get your cat into the vet as soon as you can and get that taken care of because if it’s a
medical condition your cat is trying to send you a message by peeing on your bed, on
your carpet, on your furniture, just get him in there. Just get him checked out.
Why is your cat doing it? Why is the cat ignoring the litter box? Why is an animal that is
typically extremely clean, fastidiously clean doing such a thing? Well as I mention
previously, medical condition is a distinct possibility. Once that’s ruled out, we get down
into behavioral issues, a much bigger animal issue. Well a behavioral issue can be
anything, from a dislike of the type of litter that you’re using to a new cat in the house or
a change of environment. I call them out of box experiences, environment issues, and
other cats, litter box issues, anxiety, that is a big, big one, stress, that is another really,
really big factor that you needs to be thought of.
Let me just jump back here for a second, I missed a slot. I am still getting used to my
software here.
Get your cat to the vet ASAP I can’t stress this enough. Get him in there. Get that taken
care of. One thing that I found to be extremely effective with our cat in keeping him
happy and keeping him using his litter box and literary we have another problem since I
started doing this was play, the importance of play. Cats need social interaction.
Everybody knows that you got to play with your dog, throw the ball to the dog or what
have you. Not a lot of people realized that cats need this just as much. They need to
activate something known as their prey drive. Cats like to hunt; we know that.Their
predators. Needless to say lying around in the house doesn’t give them any opportunities
for hunting. So what you want to do is, you know, head on down to the pet store pick
yourself up a little feather, feather on the end of the stick deals that cost you a five six
bucks. I’m telling you right now, if you got to see a cat not go nuts over one of these
things, hide it jus out of their vision and just quickly fleet it across and I tell you they go
nuts. This can do wonders for your cat’s mental well being and I’m telling you right now
that you might be amazed that this would stop your cat peeing outside the litter box in
and of itself.
It’s worth mentioning, start slowly, you know; don’t put the thing in your cats face. The
cat gets up on its—it sort of wears up and it’s kind of batting at it, that’s a defensive
thing. You don’t want that to happen. You wan the cat to be doing the chasing. You don’t
want to be pushing the toy into the cat’s face.
Give that a try. See if it, you know, see if it helps. See if it helps you. I got to do a series
of these videos. This being the first of many but I wanted to talk to you on this as being a
very simple fix. One that anybody can do and I can almost assure you that your cat will
appreciate it and if that doesn’t work, check back soon or take a look for some of my
other video or check out stopcatpeeing.com. Thanks for listening guys.
