There are so many good reasons to serve cheese at a party. They are relatively labor-free which I love. When I make a cheese board, what I'd like to do is always serve my cheese at room temperature, however, it's a lot easier to cut your cheeses before they get to room temperature.
So I will start with the wedge. I am going to leave that pretty wax on that because looks nice for presentation purposes. Leave piece of wedge just like so, and just cut it into small easy to serve slices. And I kind of pan them out like that just to make a nice little presentation right in front.
We have some butter, and I will maybe make some slices here. What I will do is I will cube them and I'll put them out on the board and I will finish them up with a fresh ground pepper. So here we have a Gruyère cheese, and this is a semi-soft cheese.
So when I am making a cheese board, I always like to have a variety of different cheeses. So we have some Gruyère, we have some butter, some goat cheese, that way there is a little bit of something for everybody and everybody gets to try a new flavor. I will just make thin slices and I'll just put those out there. You can kind of make a nice beautiful stack.
We have a blue cheese. They tend to be a little crumbly. So what I will often times do is I will just put it out like so and allow people to have add it. Now for the goat cheese. A lot of times when I have a fresh goat cheese, it's also known as chèvre, I will take some of the log, I will scoop it out. I will smash it down in there, then I will top it up with some of my favorite olive oil. Then some fresh ground pepper and maybe even some candy nuts. Anything that I think would go well, with the goat cheese. Serve it up, like so.
I love to put out some different things like dry cranberries, some grapes of course, cut up some fresh apple. Apple pairs always good with cheese. You want to make them all into individual slices so that when somebody grab a slice of cheese, they can also grab a slice of fruit.
Cool, some more nuts absolutely. I always put out a little sausage. So maybe, I will put out a fork with these little guys. Certainly amazed for my fresh goat cheese. A lot of us I know don't have huge cutting boards hanging around or platters, so a good tip is to head on down to a local hardware store and pick up a very inexpensive tile, they work great for cheeses.
Slate is another fun way to serve cheese and the great thing about this is you can write on it. So I am going to put this fresh mozzarella balls, on there. So I am just going to write, Mozz, put them on there.
And we, everyone knows what the cheese is. Put some skewers in there. Now this is elegant without being cheesy guys.
