Rather than visiting all of the sites you like to read with your morning coffee individually, Google Reader and other similar RSS (real simple syndication) readers act as an aggregate catch all for the day's news. It functions a lot like your email inbox.

How to Subscribe to News Feeds with Google Reader

Today I'm going to show you how to subscribe to web feed using Google Reader in Mozilla Firefox. If a website has a feed you can subscribe to Firefox will show you an orange icon at the top of the page. Click on it to get started. On the next page you'll see a few reasons feed items. If you want to skip this page in the future check the always use Google to subscribe to feed check box and click on subscribe now. Here you’ll choose between Google Homepage and Google Reader. We’re going to use Google Reader. Finally the feed will appear in Google Reader and it will tell you that you subscribe. To organize things a bit, click on the add folder to drop down. We’ll create a new folder for this feed. Over on the left you'll see the new feed up here in this new folder next to all the other feeds that you subscribe too and that’s how to get started using Google Reader.
