One of my elderly aunts has dementia and we do not want this to turn to Alzheimer’s disease. We are improving her diet or having to crossword puzzles or maybe start to exercising more. Could any of these things help her to get her short term memory back? Elkhonon Goldberg: Well Julian I am sorry to hear about your aunt but let me first clarify something. Alzheimer’s disease is a form of dementia. Now can she get her memory back, short term memory back that is not very likely but the important thing here is to slow down the further decline of her memory and here cognitive exercise indeed may play an important role. But keep in mind that crossword puzzles is from the certainly a good thing but the least that one can do. Today we have much more elaborate cognitive exercises, design we know some knowledge of neurology and neuro-psychology that which have been designed to train various aspects of memory and retention and other mental functions. So once should take advantage of the increasing availability of psyche more sophisticated of cognitive exercising ones mind.
