David Epstein: Alright we have talking about flowers in shrubs and we have talk about fully against shrubs that brush by now. Now we have got some perennials that actually have some nice scented to them as well.
Wayne Mezitt: This is Thyme which is the ground cover this happen to be part steppables group, you can feel it. You can smell the oranges.
David Epstein: Yes, really it smells great
Wayne Mezitt: It is good because as walk over it releases the oils to and that it is great on the patty on and any place for the wax.
David Epstein: So you could top this in between stones if you are here to walk way or something like that and that you can just walk on this a little bit.
Wayne Mezitt: Walk a quite a bit, it is pretty resilient. It is pretty tough plant. Before we drawn this is fragrant it is also fragrant on this Perovskia.
David Epstein: This is Russian Sage.
Wayne Mezitt: Thank you. Russian Sage, if you smell the foliage on this is almost done it is going to sharp scent too.
David Epstein: Yes, it is almost like a pine.
Wayne Mezitt: Exactly as pine leaf and cause this flower is familiar to for a long season.
David Epstein: Its get really tall. Flops over a little bit.
Wayne Mezitt: The different cultivars of that some of the Marigold with shorter growing and of course we have got the Lavender which is one of the favorites.
David Epstein: Just like the dry little bit dry.
Wayne Mezitt: Most of these plants are well drain soil, soil of Mediterranean conditions.
David Epstein: Okay.
Wayne Mezitt: Will they can dry out a little bit and in fact the drier it is. The more they release their oils.
David Epstein: This is Bergamot right.
Wayne Mezitt: Bee Balm, yes.
David Epstein: Bee Balm
Wayne Mezitt: Monarda it is called, this is a lot of a different names for a lot a different colors this is one that I like, because it is a little bit darker colors. The flowers they are not fragrant but the foliages they make tea out of it.
David Epstein: Make tea out of this Bergamot tea and that was great and then of course this is one tall Phlox.
Wayne Mezitt: The garden Phlox it is a wonderful long blooming perennials that has different colors pinks white and even orange at this point. A lot of a new type and it is very fragrant especially the cut flower.
David Epstein: Now if I cut this will it flower again?
Wayne Mezitt: You can see the new buds forming in the inside here.
David Epstein: Sure.
Wayne Mezitt: And it will continue to flower all summer.
