I had it always people with their palm pre-excitement, a lot of people getting all excited because
the palm was supposed to sync with iTunes that launched by boy genius report pointed out and
life hacker second to the motion that any device can sync with iTunes if you got a little third
party software help along the way.
For Windows folks, let’s try iTunes agent. Go to ITA.sourceforge.net and click on download.
They can get the most stable release. Download it and install it. They don’t have the latest .net
framework for Windows, you'll get an error so go to Microsoft.com and make sure you have the
latest version. Then install that, that may take a while so be patient. Once you have iTunes agent
up and running, it's going to prompt you to configure it. If you’ve never used it before, just say
no because you're not bringing in any old info. Also make sure you have iTunes installed or it
might have trouble communicating with the iTunes that isn’t there.
Now if all goes well, iTunes will launch and a pop-up will tell you iTunes agent is ready to sync
your devices. To add a new device, make sure it's connected to your computer then right click on
the iTunes agent icon in the system tray and choose preferences. Press new, you'll get a warning
letting you know that the first time you sync, all the data on the new device is going to be erased
so make sure you have everything off that device before you go ahead.
Then fill out the fields naming your device and so on. You could choose a particular playlist to
associate with the device is safe, the devices only got four gigs and you got 10 gigs of music.
Once you’re done, press safe. Now I've set it up so my top rated songs are going to be put on this
USB stick. I got a little thing in my car, I could plug the USB stick, play the music right off on
there.
To sync it, right click on iTunes agent and select synchronize devices. Your selected songs will
now be synced to the USB stick or whatever device you got plugged in. Mac users can't use
iTunes agent. Why don’t you guys look up iTune MyWalkman from Ylary Shianon which is
similar to iTunes agent and a little more integrated actually.
In this case, I hope that syncing feeling is a good thing. I'm Tom Merrit, cnet.com
