Hi, this is Toni. Welcome to winksound.com. Today, I’m going to show you guys how to use Reason as an external rack and use the sounds in Reason with your MPC drum machine. And basically, we’re going to walk you through it. We're going to make and create MIDI tracks on the MPC and I’m going to show you how to get the beats popping, let’s go.
What you want to do is you want to go here to your preferences. Rhe first thing you’d like to do is create a Bus A and choose the interface in the MIDI controller that you’re going to use to trigger the sounds. Right now, I’m using the USB UNO MIDI interface and that will be my interface connected to the MP to trigger the sounds.
Then you’d like to come here to keyboard and control surfaces and make sure that no controller is assigned to trigger any Reason sounds inside of the Reason software so that the sequencer won’t see any of the input of the MIDI.
Once we’ve done that, we want to go up here towards these advance MIDI devices and we want to select the devices or the sounds that we want to trigger on our MPC. So we go to MIDI channel one. We’ll choose the “Re-drum” and I’ll tap on the MPC, create a MIDI channel one on the MPC. And then once I trigger that, if you notice you’ll see the light coming on MIDI channel one and that’s setting up the MIDI as the master and the Reason as an external sound device.
